A v Poland (Poznan) 13.11.1991

We flew to Berlin and had one nights accommodation booked in old East Berlin.

We had a day to stroll round Berlin, we found many statues to STalin etc being demolished following the falling of the wall, but not everyone was happy with this!

Flags and messages of support for the old Communist regim have been put up in protest at the demolition of these statues...............

We get the overnight train to Warsaw, before heading on to Poznan...............

All aboard the train.......................time for another beer

We arrive into a drab looking Poznan

After checking into our hotel and a few more beers its time to head to the ground. A lot of England fans were staying at the Hotel Poznan and we got an escort to the ground with the nice friendly riot police........

We make it into the ground. The bloke infront of us had been used as a testing site for the rubber truncheons, and yes they do hurt!!!

We safely get back to the Hotel and its food time. The England team turned up for a meal at the same place, they soon eat up and leave for the flight back to Luton, we would head back to Berlin for another couple of days.........

The Reichstag (sp) on our whistle stop tour

...........................Me at the Brandenburg gates.............

Back at Berlin airport waiting for our flight home

  1. I went to that match and remember walking to the ground with those riot police.

We were in a bar before the match in Berlin with a massive football in the middle of it.

A load of Mancs came in and robbed the tills!!!!!
